After the revolt of 532, which Theodora effectively defeated, Constantinople was nearly destroyed. In order to fix it Theodora and Justinian started the Public Works Project. They payed for it with taxes. This created over 10,000 jobs for people. It aslo made Constantinople a wonderful city with bridges, golden paths, public baths, and the Hagia Sophia.She also created law that protected former prostitutes and she made homes for them to live in. Theodora was a known leader of woman's liberation movements.
